The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office located the body of a woman near KY 94 East.
Major Clayton Hendricks, chief deputy with CCSO, said Captain Richard Steen was on patrol Friday morning when he discovered a vehicle setting way off the road in a field just off KY 94 East. Steen checked the vehicle, but located no one around. A check of the registration revealed that it belonged to a reported missing person, Hendricks said.
Steen requested the assistance of Calloway County Fire-Rescue and the office of Emergency Management. A search of the area was conducted and at approximately 12:05 p.m., members of CCFR discovered a female lying in a field just off McDougal Road.
The Calloway County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene. Assistant Coroner Ricky Walls pronounced the woman deceased at the scene. The body will be transported to Louisville, today (Saturday), where an autopsy will be performed. The name of the victim will be released pending notification of the family.
The investigation is continuing by CCSO. Hendricks said investigators were looking at all possibilities, and foul play could not be ruled out at this time.
