Jackson expected to waive his preliminary hearing

Posted: Wednesday, September 26, 2012 7:00 am

Commonwealth Attorney Mark Blankenship said Tuesday that Murray State University basketball player Zaveral “Zay” Jackson is expected waive his preliminary hearing Wednesday in Calloway District Court, stemming from assault charges related to an incident on the Walmart SuperCenter parking lot a few weeks ago.

Attempts to reach Jackson’s attorney, Gary Haverstock, were unsuccessful Tuesday. It is not known if Jackson will make an appearance in front of Judge Randy Hutchens Wednesday. Blankenship indicated that, unless appropriate papers are filed, defendants are expected to still appear in court despite waiving such hearings.
