The modern firearm deer season is all but history now, but what a season it has been. If we have decent weather this weekend we could be looking at a near record year for deer harvest. Reports from the deer woods this week have been good with lots of deer activity.
On Tuesday of this week, I talked with Tina Brunjes, Deer Program Coordinator for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources about the prospect for a record-setting year. Tina said they thought this would be an average year until the September harvest set a record. October didn’t break any records but was well above average. Then we had the second highest opening weekend ever.
